Back in 2012, having looked at how agencies did paid search, we realised there had to be a better way. Working on our own sites without the boundaries of industry ‘best practice’, we set about perfecting our own way of doing things.

The results have been extraordinary across diverse retail sectors including fashion, electronics, groceries and home accessories. We offer a genuine competitive edge to our clients – and better still we consistently replicate these successes. But how?


Unique technology developed in-house

Our Cambridge PhD-led tech team created an automated, algorithm-based bidding and campaign tool. But as well as auto-bidding; the software was refined to help with modelling, forecasting, reporting and more. We were soon using this software (we call it Clarence) to manage a six-figure monthly budget on our own sites – and more importantly, we were attaining consistent results.

Genie Goals was created to take our unique software and methodology public. The old agency ideas hadn’t moved on and the big retail clients were ready for change. What we offered was an attitude of cooperation – becoming part of their team and focusing on selling their goods, not on arbitrary spend targets designed to stifle growth.
